The 1923 Chevrolet is a True Classic

Introducing the 1923 Chevy

1923 Chevrolet Hit One Million

In 1923, a Chevy plant was built on 3221 Commerce by Lang and Witchell. This plant, which was fireproof, was in heavy competition with the Ford plant located on Canton Street. On February 22, 1923, Chevrolet produced their 1,000,000th car.

1923 Chevrolet Superior Series B

A great classic built in 1923 by Chevrolet was the Superior Series B. This series consisted of the following:

  • Two-Passenger Two-Door Roadster
  • Two-Passenger Two-Door Utility Coupe
  • Four-Passenger Two-Door Sedanette

  • The Popular 1923 Superior Utility Coupe

Why Everyone Loved this 1923 Chevrolet Utility Coupe

The 1923 Superior Utility Coupe, with its single seat that accommodated the driver and one passenger, was very popular among business people, farmers and young couples.

The Utility Coupe featured extra wide doors with regulated windows, large rear window, double adjustable ventilating windshield and a rear compartment that had spacious room for carrying merchandise or supplies. Also included on the Utility Coupe was full weather protection all year, comfortable upholstery and clear vision all around.

1923 Copper-Cooled-The Troubled Chevrolet

Just in time for the New York Auto Show in January, 1923, there were 250 Copper-Cooled Chevrolets built. Even though the Copper-Cooled had the same body as the Superior B, it weighed around 215 pounds less. and was priced around $200 higher than the Superior B series.

The 1923 Chevrolet Series M Copper-Cooled included the following, each with 103-inch wheelbase:

  • Touring five-passenger four-door
  • Roadster two-passenger two-door
  • Coupe two-passenger two-door
  • Sedanette four passenger two-door
  • Sedan five passenger four-door

The 1923 Copper-Cooled Chevrolet delivered 22.0 bhp @ 1750 rpm. The Chevrolet had 2207 ccm displacement and 4.00:1 compression ratio.

After building 500 Copper-Cooled vehicles, production was stopped and most were recalled due to uneven air distribution. This was Chevrolet's final try at an air-cooled engine for almost 40 years.
