The Eagerly Anticipated 1924 Chevy
1924 Series F Superior Chevrolet
1924 was a good year for William S. Knudsen, when he became the new president of Chevrolet and joined the GM Board of Directors. But, because of the drop in sales due to a stale product line, 1924 was not a very good year for Chevrolet .
The consumer considered the new Series F Superior line offered by Chevrolet to be old-fashioned with an average design and poor build.
This new vehicle, which had a price range of $490 to $940, was called the "world's lowest priced automobile." There were 307,775 Chevrolets (including Canadian-built cars) produced in 1924.
The new Series F Superior Deluxe models, which were added in the middle of 1924, included accessories that had been previously installed by a dealer or owner. This series consisted of the following:
Features on the 1924 Classic Chevy
Some deluxe equipment featured on the 1924 Chevrolet Series F Superior was shell headlamps, step plates, disc wheels and a nickeled radiator.
The brakes on the Series F Superior models were the external-contracting type. The brake cables on this Classic Chevy were replaced with solid rods.
Other equipment included for the Series F Superior was a full set of tools and spare rim for extra tire. For a more impressive interior there were a set of six side curtains for Touring Models and set of four for the Roadsters. In the open models, there was a rubber mat for the front floor and carpet in closed models.
A First for Chevy
For the first time in Chevrolet's history, a radio option was available to the owner of a new 1924 Chevy.
